It has now been thirteen years since the Goals 2000: Educate America Act and the School to Work Opportunities Act (STWOA) of 1994 passed.  Many states, however, saw the writing on the wall and began restructuring before these federal laws were passed.  As education reform has moved forward, the horror stories emanating from the halls of the government schools increase daily.  These horror stories are in the same vein as the stories told at the hearings held across the nation by the U.S. Department of Education in 1984, and that resulted in the book, Child Abuse in the Classroom.  The reason for this is that many of the programs spoken of in that book were validation projects for education reform or systems education as it is generically called.  This means these programs are now being used in schools across the nation.  If you have had or are having problems with your local government school, know that you are not alone.  You may find a story similar to your own in the links to the left.

The mantra of the reformers has been "we are successful if we can help ONE child." What about the lives of the children who are being destroyed by education reform?  Or don't they count?

Child abuse is a term generally associated with abuse by a parent.  What about the abuse children are enduring in the classroom?
