Dear Ms. Stuter,
I deeply resent the implication in your
article that those of us choosing to use the K12 Virtual Charter Schools have
somehow been duped, or fooled, or tricked into thinking it was something that
it wasn't. K12 has been forthright
and honest and very careful to explain the difference between traditional
homeschooling and public cyberschooling. They make it a point to let us know that
when we enroll in a VCS, that we are part of the PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM.
Obviously, you never asked any of us
actually USING the program about our experience. I'm sure there were a few who were too
dumb to figure out the difference between traditional homeschooling and using a
Virtual Charter School...you said “at least one instance” when
suggesting that parents don't know that they're part of the public system. If that's the case, then they're
obviously too ignorant to homeschool anyway, if they don't know what kind of
thing they've gotten themselves into!
The enrollment process alone should alert the parent that it's part of
the public system!
Next time, I suggest doing more
homework before spouting off a bunch of drivel that does nothing but make you
look biased and ignorant, rather than objective and sincere.
Karen Rice,
PROUD PARENT of a PAVCS
student.
