There was a time when it was not necessary that parents have handy a document enumerating their rights and the rights of their children in the school, on school grounds, and in the classroom. The Wenatchee Witch Hunt focused the national media spotlight on the fact that, more and more, states are abusing the right of parents to oversee the upbringing and education of their child(ren); such abuse being perpetrated in the name of "protecting our children". In the Robertson case, their daughter was taken from them when they were arrested and charged with abuse after they spoke out against what law enforcement in Wenatchee, Washington, had done regarding the alleged Wenatchee Sex Ring case.
