The following email came as in response to an email about the brainwashing (otherwise known as "programming") students are experiencing in the government schools.

Resistance Isn't Futile!

I had to reply to this, being as I am a 20-something.

A big reason that this "deprogramming" is necessary is because of the education system which exists today.  Time is taken away from learning things such as math, history, and English in order to learn how to be more "socially responsible".  I spent a good part of my last year in high school learning how to humbly repent for the mistakes of some people's ancestors years ago who were involved with slavery.

I was taught how to hug trees, tolerate homosexuality, and why guns are bad.  Luckily, I was born with a brain and I had parents who taught me how to use it.  I was kicked out of a government class when I asked my teacher to explain to me how a rational person can be pro-abortion and against the death penalty.

We are taught that sex is OK – just use protection.  And if you do become pregnant, the school will be happy to provide us with a list of resources in order to avoid discussing the situation with our parents.

We spend so much time learning about drugs and alcohol in school that we are dying to try them just to find out what the hype is about.

And I won't even start on smoking.

In essence, we need to see parents who choose public education for their children to actively participate with the schools.

Find out what your kids are being taught.  Don't just sign permission slips without reading them.  Most of all, pay attention to the educational materials being used.

What magazines are subscribed to in order to teach current events?  I was taught, no joke, that democrats were the people who cared about the nation, while republicans were put into office to protect the rich.  Your children may be hearing the same things.  Do you honestly want a teacher who cannot keep their own political views from interfering with a child's education?

Anyway, just my two cents.  Sometimes it is difficult being so young and so outspoken when it comes to my political stance, especially civil rights.  A lot of times I am not taken seriously, which is OK.

However, I feel that I have maintained this level head and concern for my rights and welfare because of the time taken by my mother to teach me that using my brain was OK, despite what the school system taught me.

Well, Heather, you certainly have my attention!  You will undoubtedly have the attention of many who read this!  Thank you for using your brains and sticking to your principles!  We need more young people like you.
