The following was sent to me in response to the piece I wrote, Destroying A Nation.  All my best to this young man who gave me permission to share his response with you.

A Message of Hope

I don't know if you actually read emails or not but I just wanted to say something regarding this article,

I found your article to be a good read, which is about all I do these days is read when on the Internet.  I found it truly accurate on how my generation is slumping into a mess of sloths, abusers... dare I say... idiots.  But there are some kids that do change,

I'm 18 years old, barely, I have had a weak foundation of family at a very young age when my father destroyed our family through his alcohol and adultery.  I lost my virginity at 13 years old at a Christian school with another student.  I at one stage did drugs and still suffer from that at times.  I hung out with the wrong people, associated with people that dealt drugs, assaulted people, even those that are now in jail.  My life up until 12 months ago was a living nightmare.  Then I pulled myself out of that, concerning the very things you talked about in that article.

The destruction of the next generation - my generation - for easy control by whoever has cause to, my generation will not show resistance to anything in the future as long as we get our 'fix' (which could be sex, drugs, alcohol, TV, Internet depending on the person).  When I realised this, I said to myself “You've got to stop doing this, you've got to change yourself and set an example”.  So I did,

I went cold turkey from everything, drugs, alcohol and sex.  I've not taken part in any 3 for 12 months.  Instead I took up Pa Gua which is kind of like Tai Chi only more aggressive (on the body, not in any physical manner), I went to gym, took up swimming and play volleyball about once a week as well.

My life for the last 12 months has been consumed by this because I do not want to falter when the time comes when my freedom is taken away.  I even have several friends who did the same as me.  My generation may be a corrupt one, my generation has grown up (for the majority) without morals or concern about what is around them but there are some, at least, that have created their own through their experiences.  My generation is falling into a Puppet Master's lap, ready to be controlled, my saying for my generation is to jump back out before its too late.

(Just letting you know that my generation is not doomed entirely)

Regards,

Michael
