Locke to meet with students as follow-up to Youth Safety Summit

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke will meet with students from Pierce, Snohomish, Benton and Franklin counties to discuss youth and school safety issues.  The discussion will take place on Tuesday, May 18 in hearing rooms A and B of the John Cherberg Building in Olympia.

Following last year's Youth Safety Summit, which was organized by Locke and the Superintendent of Public Instruction, students around the state took up the challenge to find local solutions to teen violence.  These students are meeting with Locke to report their findings and ideas.

Locke will also deliver a personal message from President Clinton to the students.  Locke met and discussed the issue with the President last Friday in Seattle.
